Our Chapter’s Philanthropy

The Kappa Sigma Fraternity is dedicated to A Greater Cause; an initiative to inspire volunteerism, citizenship, and service to communities in the immediate area as well as nationwide.

In the past few years, the Nu-Alpha chapter of Kappa Sigma has demonstrated great growth and success in Philanthropy. Last year the chapter held its first annual Bootcamp, the Kappa Sigma National Philanthropy, raising over $2,000 for the Military Heroes Campaign. The chapter has also partnered with Be the Match, part of the National Marrow Donor Program, to increase awareness of blood cancers and increase donor participation. This Fall will be the Second Annual Be the Match Barbecue where students and faculty can grab food and join the donor registry.

In addition to nationwide philanthropy, the chapter has dedicated time to volunteering and community growth; last year, the chapter surpassed its goal of community service hours and cumulated over 4,500 hours.  The men of this Fraternity do not only volunteer their extra time during the school year to help out the SLO community. During the summer, the men dedicate their time to improve their home communities as well as those around the world. Last summer, members cumulated over 1,000 hours through volunteer camps at home and research studies abroad.

This year, some of the goals for the chapter are to expand Bootcamp to develop an exhilarating experience, improve relations with the community, and create a new Spring Philanthropy. These will be accomplished by dedication to Service, a core pillar of this Fraternity.
